Victoria Park’s largest shopping centre is set to undergo a major transformation after the Town of Victoria Park conditionally approved a development application for an alfresco upgrade.

Hawaiian’s Park Centre — located on Albany Highway’s shopping and restaurant strip — is home to over 50 retailers including Coles, Kmart and Subway.

The centre is owned by Hawaiian, a Perth-based property company which owns and manage 10 shopping centres across Perth including Claremont Quarter, Hawaiian’s Bassendean and Hawaiian’s Noranda.

According to Hawaiian, the new alfresco area will include a “spacious outdoor section” with new furniture, greenery, and shelter for weather protection.

The renovation will also include new bathroom amenities and “other ambience upgrades”.

The town’s CEO Anthony Vuleta confirmed the town issued development approval “subject to conditions for additions and alterations” in October 2023.

“The approval includes new signage, shade structures and landscaping for the Park Centre Forecourt area that faces Albany Highway,” Mr Vuleta said.

“The approval is subject to several conditions largely relating to signage.”

Hawaiian chief operating officer Richard Kilbane described the upgrade as an “exciting time” for the shopping centre.

“We are delighted to receive approval to move ahead with the upgrade of Park Centre’s alfresco dining,” he said.

“In our commitment to creating thriving neighbourhood shopping centres, the alfresco upgrade will deliver a welcoming and dynamic social space for people to unwind whilst creating opportunities for connection.

“We are excited to expand our offering and entre the next phase of the revitalisation of Hawaiian’s Park Centre.”

While a start date has not been confirmed, according to Hawaiian, works are set to commence “in the near future”.
