Perth cold case detectives charge Cloverdale man with 2011 aggravated burglary

Cold case detectives last week charged a 60-year-old man in relation to an aggravated burglary in Balga on May 6, 2011.

It will be alleged about 10pm a 38-year-old woman was at an address in Balga when the accused allegedly entered the home and struck her on the head several times with a piece of wood.

She received a serious facial injury requiring hospitalisation.

Late last year improvement in forensic testing identified a suspect in relation to the crime.

On February 14 detectives arrested the accused Cloverdale man in Northam.

He was charged with attempt to unlawfully kill and one count of aggravated burglary and commit offence in a dwelling.

Detectives allege it was a targeted attack and inquiries are continuing as to the involvement of other parties.
