Cold Chisel legend Ian Moss to rock up a storm at free Beeliar Sun Sets concert this February

Matt ZisPerthNow - Cockburn

One of the true legends of Australian rock music is rolling into Success next weekend and thousands are expected to lap up his free summer performance.

Ian Moss, Cold Chisel guitarist and the voice of some of the band’s top tracks including My Baby, When The War Is Over and Saturday Night, is headlining the City of Cockburn’s second free Beeliar Sun Sets Success concert this summer.

He follows in the footsteps of Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley, whose free gig in November drew a crowd estimated at 4000 people.

Moss, who carried on in the Australian music scene after his Chisel heydays with a succession of solo hits including Tucker’s Daughter and Telephone Booth, will be joined at the Success Regional Sporting Facility on Saturday, February 17 by First Nations singer-songwriters Boox Kid, Katy Steele of Little Birdy fame, and blues performer Ash Grunwald.

“Western Australia has always been incredibly supportive of my career and music regardless of whether I play with my band or in solo acoustic mode, so any trip to the beautiful West is always highly anticipated,” Moss said.

“And, of course, to headline Beeliar Sun Sets in 2024 with my band and to play alongside other incredible Australian performers Boox Kid, Katy Steele and Ash Grunwald, is something we are all delighted to be a part of and looking forward to.”

Cockburn mayor Logan Howlett hoped the diverse line-up would appeal to a range of music fans.

“With everything from indie-pop to blues and rock, including some very well-known members of Australian music royalty, we know locals and those from further afield will love Beeliar Sun Sets in the City of Cockburn this February,” he said.

The event will also have food trucks, bouncy castles, giant games and a silent disco.
