An internationally acclaimed puppet show is making its way from Edinburgh to Cockburn.

For one night only, the performance of Bruce — a yellow foam sponge brought to life by artists Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd and Tim Watts — will be shown in Hamilton Hill.

City of Cockburn creative programs lead Sam Longley told PerthNow he had brought the show to the city in what he hopes is a refreshing change-up for comedy lovers.

“Bruce was one of those shows I got to see that I’ve just never forgotten,” he said.

“It is beautifully unique in its presentation because even though it is a puppet show, it doesn’t look like most other puppet shows and it is for adults.

“We wanted to give them a piece of theatre that is creative, adventurous, hilariously funny and heartfelt.”

The show is a mixture of physical theatre brought to life by “skilled puppeteers” who are set to take audiences on a journey of a self-proclaimed hero cop turned novelist-astronaut.

Watts — behind award-nominated shows including the Adventures of Alvin Sputnik — teamed up with Nickelodeans’ Nixon-Lloyd for the production, which is backed by Australian theatre company The Last Great Hunt.

Bruce will show for one night at Memorial Hall, Hamilton Hill, on April 12.

Tickets are $15.
