Manning Laneway Festival returns for its second year to Welwyn Avenue entertainment hub

PerthNow - Southern

A southern suburbs street festival is returning after the inaugural event last year attracted about 2000 people.

Organisers of the Manning Laneway Festival on February 10 are hoping for a bigger crowd this year, drawing residents from Manning, Karawara, Como, Salter Point, Waterford and surrounds.

There will be food and beverage options with local restaurants offering festival menus, a licensed bar in front of the main entertainment stage, plus ice-cream trucks and a sausage sizzle.

Alt country/indi rockers Drab Liberties will perform along with indi pop from Fox India and blues, folk, pop, soul and R&B from duo Andrew Winton and Trevor Jalla.

Sports activities on James Miller Oval will include boxing, yoga, ballroom dancing, Aussie Rules, rugby and cricket.

More than 30 community groups will offer free activities, including face painting, balloon twisting, black out poetry, guessing games and an Amazing Race around the Manning Hub for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses

The fun starts at 4pm, and the entertainment runs all afternoon until 9pm before a DJ starts up.

The festival, at the Manning Hub at Welwyn Avenue, is organised by the newly formed Manning Town Team who are passionate about supporting local community activations to help residents feel supported, involved and connected.

Parking is limited, with visitors encouraged to walk, bike, bus or park on side streets nearby.
