Beans mean business for Kyra

The 20-year-old has been perfecting her barista techniques for more than three years at Muffin Break, Pinjarra.

One of six baristas who knocked-out hundreds of competitors to make it to the grand final round of the eighth annual Muffin Break Barista Championships, Kyra will showcase her skills today (Wednesday) in Sydney.

Each of the six finalists from across Australia and New Zealand will have just 15 minutes to prepare and serve 12 cups of coffee ” four espressos, four cappuccinos and four cups showcasing their best latte art.

‘One of the things I love most about being a barista is making people’s day by serving them their ideal cup of coffee,” she said.

‘The positive feedback and compliments from customers really makes my day.”

As well as customer service and technical skills, the baristas will be scored on the flavour, volume and appearance of the coffee.

The winner receives a roasting and cupping session with qualified industry expert Andrew Gross, a master coffee roaster with more than 30 years experience in the industry.
