Artist getting mural helpers on board

Project artist Rob Ewing is encouraging residents to visit the historic Pinjarra Roads Board Building in George Street every Saturday from 10am to 4pm until the end of September.

"The new mural will complement the main street of Pinjarra," he said. "It will have a very strong youth emphasis, with imagery generated by students from Pinjarra and St Josephs Primary Schools.

"In addition to the youth image panels, there are seven large panels that will be decorated with local flora and fauna.

"If people have some ideas to share or they would like to get busy with paint and brush, all are welcome."

The completed mural will be erected around the street front of the old Exchange Hotel site while it is being redeveloped.

The mural will be retained and used by the Shire of Murray once the Exchange Hotel redevelopment is complete.

The panels will be reused at future festivals and community events to promote anti-graffiti campaigns.

The project has been made possible by funding from the WA Police State Graffiti Fund and the Shire of Murray.
