City of Mandurah finalises truncation of Cooper St property for road widening

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

A 15cm encroachment by a shed on a property on the corner of Cooper and Forrest streets held up a proposed land truncation for a roundabout for 15 years.

This week, the City of Mandurah finalised the 18sq m truncation on 29 Cooper Street although the roundabout was built and the property owner compensated in 2003.

In 2002, council negotiated with the owners of one of two units on the property to acquire the land.

But the subsequent taking and dedication of the road widening land could not go ahead because of the minor encroachment at the rear of one of the units, which needed to be dealt with before any land redefinition could occur over the strata site.

The roundabout was installed after the intersection was identified as a Black Spot.

The 18sq m will now be used for road widening.
