Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

THE many hundreds of people who have strolled the stage of Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MPAC) over the years will be celebrated in Curtain Call, a 20th anniversary celebration in song of the community involvement at the centre.

Almost 60 talented local performers past and present have been hard at work since early May polishing almost two hours of sparkling entertainment.

Directed and pieced together by Carole Dhu, the show features excerpts from several MPAC in-house productions as well as celebrating the involvement of many other community groups that have staged shows at the venue.

Excerpts include songs from My Fair Lady (presented by Mandurah Little Theatre in 1998), and Paint Your Wagon (an MPAC show in 2003) as well as a plethora of other well known musicals.

Solo numbers peppered between the big productions numbers will represent several more shows and the program will touch on some of the more recent productions as well.

Ten years ago, the Celebrate Good Times show recognised the first decade at the centre and was devised and scripted by now Mandurah MLA David Templeman and production manager the late Lesley Couzens.

In 2007, then centre manager Beth Harvey described the past 10 years as a roller coaster ride but said the centre had come through with flying colours.

“We have now come of age and the talent in the Peel region is boundless,’’ she said.

So that as many people as possible can join in the celebrations, tickets to Curtain Call are just $20 and $15 and on sale now.
