ERSKINE’S Aqueous foreshore is in better shape thanks to the effort of local Growing Towards Wellness participants.

City of Mandurah engaged the program to help implement a foreshore management plan in front of the Aqueous Apartments.

Growing Towards Wellness is a program that provides support for young people with mental health issues through horticultural training.

Over the past year, participants have been successfully managing the foreshore vegetation through techniques including thick mulching, hand weeding and planting that have significantly reduced the resurgence of Veldt grass that covered most of the area.

Mayor Marina Vergone said it was a great example of supporting mental health recovery through meaningful outdoor activities and education.

The City manages almost 1000ha of bush and 51km of coastline and recognises the importance that it is cared for and managed well.
