MWRG won the Department of Transport’s Marine Safety Award and a $5000 grant for safety equipment.

Emma Cook was nominated in the youth volunteer award.

MWRG public relations officer Ray Rudland said the award paid tribute to the group’s efforts.

‘We are a dedicated group and provide an excellent service,’ he said.

‘It is nice to be recognised and we hope to continue to provide a quality service and be in the running for the awards in the years to come.’
