Put back parking

Staff ReporterMandurah Coastal Times

I WANT to agree with the letter in last week’s paper about the Mandurah Terrace downtown roadworks, Families caught, Coastal Times, May 1.

In the holiday period, parking is at a premium and what they are currently doing is taking some of these precious spots away.

There has been no consultation with the community about what they have done ” all, of course, at the expense of our rates.

They say it is to make it more friendly for people walking in the area ” well, they will lose these walkers because they don’t want to have to walk a kilometre to get to the foreshore. The buses aren’t much help either.

Speaking of buses, I watched one try and negotiate the narrow road and roundabout and it’s a challenge for them.

I wonder what the real estate businesses and eateries feel about losing precious space for customers.

It is good to see the place made more attractive, but not at the expense of losing parking spots.
