Halls Head, 31 Hill Street – From $1.15 million

Lucy RutherfordMandurah Coastal Times

The owners have lived in the home for 23 years, raising their three children on the 1171sq m property.

“When we first moved to Mandurah, we always aspired to live in Hill Street because of the views and because the beach is so close,” owner Jan said.

“The house has been a very happy home to our family. We have celebrated many significant birthdays and anniversaries and we have also had many barbecues and pool parties and watched the city fireworks from the balcony on New Year’s Eve.”

The original house was built in 1954 and Jan and her husband held major renovations to increase its size and maximise the vistas.

“The best views are from the main bedroom, overlooking the Mary Street lagoon, park, the estuary and Dolphin Quay,” Jan said.

“The beach at Silver Sands can be seen from the balcony and the living room, kitchen and dining room have views of all the areas too.”

Jan said her favourite places in the house were the main bedroom with its views and spa bath, and the lounge room in winter curled up on the couch with a book in front of the wood fire. Her husband’s favourite areas included the living room because of the views and his workshop.

“The neighbourhood is one of the best things about living here,” she said.

“The neighbours are fantastic and we share garden produce, plants and house-sitting duties and it is quiet, and there are fantastic walks and cycle paths in every direction.” n
