Peel Districts Little Athletics: athletes get support from mascots in annual march-past

Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

YOUNGSTERS from the Peel Districts Little Athletics Centre had some help from some furry friends when they held their annual march-past recently.

Joining the little athletes in the march were special guests Stitches the Bear (Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation), Hogster from Hog’s Breath Mandurah and a number of other mascots.

They also participated in a few events, including a sprint and a shotput competition.

The club joined more than 35 Little Athletics centres across the state to raise funds for the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Athletes marched down the straight track and presented themselves and their clubs to the parents and community,” publicity officer Beki Hawkins said.

“This was followed by presenting the winter athletes with their awards and the cutting of the cake to declare our season open.

“The annual fundraiser day is a fantastic activity which brings families and our community together and helps build the spirit and culture of our centres.”
