EVA Mustapic proved the spirit of innovation is alive and well at Applecross Senior High School when she was crowned the inaugural winner of the WA Young Entrepreneur Program Exhibition.

The exhibition was the culmination of a nine-week pilot program run by Innovation Institute at three high schools, including Applecross SHS.

During the program, Innovation Institute founder Paul Litwin presented weekly skill sessions and was joined by guest speakers to present on a different aspect of business and entrepreneurship.

Sixteen teams then pitched their original innovation in a bid to be named the first Young Entrepreneur Program Exhibition champion.

That honour fell to Year 8 Eva, who blew judges away with “Chic Magnet,” a fashion accessory that provides a solution for women worried about their dresses or skirts flaring up while riding a bicycle.

“The judging panel consisted of business representatives who were very impressed with the high standard of ideas and entrepreneurial spirit evident on the day,” Mr Litwin said.

The program, which is open to Year 7 to 10 students, will run again throughout term three.
