A PAIR of residents united in their dedication to community have been named the City of Melville’s 2017 Active Citizenship Award winners.
Builder John Wigham and Elders store manager Keith Daddow have both volunteered countless hours to local sporting organisations.
A committee member and long-time manager of the Colts side at the Palmyra Rugby Club, Mr Wigham also used his building expertise to help with the placement of the temporary stands at Tompkins Park.

READ NOW“Basically all my volunteering has stemmed from my kids – I knew next to nothing about rugby when my sons joined the club a few years ago,” he said.
“Everyone was incredibly welcoming and it’s a great social outlet and sense of belonging.”
Mr Daddow coaches and sits on the board of both the Ardross Junior Cricket Club and Applecross Junior Football Club and has raised more than $100,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation after surviving the disease himself.
“My mantra is, if not me, who?” Mr Daddow said.
“How can I expect anyone to coach a footy team or give a talk to men battling prostate cancer I’m not prepared to do it myself?
“You certainly don’t volunteer for the recognition but if you can get your club or cause some exposure through these kinds of awards that just adds value to what you’re doing.”
The City of Melville’s Active Citizenship under-25 awards went to South Care, Young Vinnies, Seeds of Justice and Red Cross soup patrol volunteer Samantha Romeo and Melville City Football Club coach Valen Bullivant.
The Melville Woodturners Association and Lions Club of Bull Creek were the Community Group winners.
