New Attadale Primary School uniform is bland

Suzanne Hanley, AttadaleMelville Gazette

I HAVE lived opposite Attadale Primary School for 30 years and have always admired the sight of the children running around in their deep blue uniforms with sunhats to match.

To read that the school is to change the uniform to “update the brand” is really disturbing.

It is not a business; it is a school where children are easily identifiable in their lovely blue uniforms.

Looking at the new “brand” it looks like a dozen other school uniforms across Perth. No one will know where the children come from.

So in favour of “a modern face” parents have to find the money to buy new uniforms across the board.

Apparently “building strong foundations for life” is dependent on new uniforms. It is sad that the school is abandoning tradition, but I suppose that is life these days – out with the old and respected, in with the bland and uninspiring.

I just hope all the old uniforms go to some needy school in Africa: they will look great under a blazing sun.
