That was followed up by the men’s encounter, again was a nail-biter, this time with the Breakers defeating the Mariners 12-11.

On Sunday morning at Bicton Pool, the Breakers hit back by beating the Fremantle women 9-6.

Then in the men’s clash the Mariners proved too strong for the Breakers running out 15-8 victors.

The results leave the Mariners men’s team sitting in seventh position with a 9-8 record while the Marlins women are third at 13-4.

The run of home games continues this weekend against the Wests Magpies on Thursday and Saturday nights at Bicton Pool.

Meanwhile in the women’s State Premier League, the Melville Marlins beat the UWA City Beach Bears 10-6 at HBF Stadium to improve to a perfect 11-0 record on the season.

After a tight opening quarter, the Marlins pulled away with Erin Redbond finishing with six goals and Lauren Martin three.
