A STAFF member from a Midland hardware store was threatened by a man with a knife after chasing after a woman who ran off without paying.

The store assistant started scanning the items when the woman grabbed a large tub of goods from the trolley and ran out the front entrance closely followed by a staff member.

The woman headed towards a silver Ford sedan parked close to the exit.

The staff member approached the woman as she was getting in the car when a man sitting in the driver’s seat pulled out a large knife and told the staff member to back off.

He then sped away, narrowly missing the staff member.

Police have released CCTV images of two women they believe can help with their investigation.

She had red hair, possibly a wig, and black rimmed glasses.

The second woman is described as light skinned, 20-25 years old, medium build with long blonde hair.

The man is described as light skinned, about 40 years old with short brown hair.
