Protest against McDonald’s behind Guildford Hotel

Lauren PedenMidland Kalamunda Reporter

A RALLY opposing the development of a McDonald’s restaurant behind the historic Guildford Hotel will be held on Saturday.

The protest will start at 11am, across from the hotel, to emphasise concerns about possible traffic and road safety issues if plans for the 24-hour fast-food outlet are approved.

In March, the Say No To McDonald’s In Guildford group joined opposition to a development application for the venue at the James Street and Johnson Street intersection.

The group’s Bromwyn Facer said they were not “anti McDonald’s” but against the location that had been chosen.

She said the rally was an opportunity for members to voice their concerns before the application is considered by the Metro East Development Assessment Panel next month.
