THE City of Swan and Act Belong Commit Avon Descent Festival is back again – at a brand new location.
The family friendly, fun-filled, free event will be held at Lilac Hill Park in Caversham from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, August 6.
City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the new location meant more space for spectators and entertainment.
“We have been holding our Avon Descent event for a number of years now and it’s always a great day,” he said.
“This year, thanks to the new location, there will be even more room for spectators and event goers to enjoy the entertainment, have a bite to eat or even enjoy a picnic with the family while watching the boats fly by.”
For the first time, the City has partnered with The Vintage Collective Markets, who will bring their huge array of vendors with a focus on gorgeous handmade, vintage and high end bespoke goods.
A host of delicious food trucks will also be on hand, with a range of menu options on offer from some of Perth’s best mobile vendors.
Midland/Guildford Ward Councillor Ian Johnson said there would also be a full program of family entertainment on the Act Belong Commit Main Stage.
“Alongside the onstage entertainment, the kids will be able to ride, jump and play to their hearts content in the Midland Gate Fun Zone which will feature classic fair rides, the ninja challenge, climbing wall and trampolines, bumper boats and more,” he said.
“The Avon Descent is such an iconic WA event and we are lucky enough to have it run through the City of Swan, so I hope that the community can head down and help cheer the competitors on.”
There will be onsite parking available off West Swan Road and a free shuttle bus will be running from Guildford Train Station to the event site from 9:45am.
