Shujian Song: Police search for missing man who went crabbing along Swan River

A marine search and rescue operation is underway in the Swan River as police search for any sign of a man who went missing in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Shujian Song was crabbing along the river in Bicton when he went missing with police receiving a report that he failed to return home at about 1:30 am.

The 45-year-old was last seen walking along the Point Walter sandbank.

The search operation — which lasted throughout Sunday — took to the sky in a bid to find the man with police deploying a search plane and drone.

Efforts of police were coupled with help from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services who launched a rescue helicopter and Marine Rescue Fremantle vessels.

Police found several items which they believe belong to Mr Song but he remains missing on Sunday evening.

The search for Mr Song is expected to continue until the last light on Sunday evening and will plans to continue Monday morning.
