Yanchep: Bethanie Beachside residents get special visit from wildlife

KOALAS and reptiles returned to a Yanchep nursing home recently to visit about 90 residents.

Bethanie Beachside physiotherapist Rebecca Farrell said the Westoz Wildlife visit was organised for the residents using fundraising money.

“The wildlife animals have visited before with such a positive reception from residents we decided to do it again this year,” she said.

“They brought along a koala, dingo, snake and lizard (and) spent over an hour in the large activity room with residents being able to touch, pat and hold the various animals – including the brave enough ones putting a snake around their necks.

“The koala and dingo were then assisted around the facility for another hour to visit residents in their rooms; this is great because it allowed some engagement from residents who don’t usually join in.”

Home’s annual show next month Bethanie Beachside will hold its annual show day on Wednesday, October 4, which is open to the public. There will be an animal farm, fairy floss, craft stalls, Devonshire tea, sausage sizzle, second hand stalls, show bags, raffles and games for children. Activities will take place in the activity room and on the lawn area from noon to 3pm.
