Glory player joins Irene McCormack Catholic College’s teaching staff

IRENE McCormack Catholic College’s soccer academy has added Perth Glory Women’s player Shawn Billam to its coaching staff.

Billam graduated from school in 2009 before completing a physical education teaching degree.

This year she joined the college staff as a physical education teacher and plans to use her soccer knowledge and expertise in teaching classes, as well as coaching teams in the inter-school competitions.

Billam’s soccer career includes playing for Perth Glory in the 2016-7 season, when she scored a goal in the semi-final.

“We welcome Shawn to the college soccer academy and look forward to her skills and experience assisting the development of the soccer academy students,” soccer academy co-ordinator Damian Stefanoff said.

The college has a soccer academy program for girls and boys in years 7-12.

The program is based on scientifically-supported training methodologies and curriculum and is associated with the ECU sport science faculty.
