Shire of Murray and Alcoa team up to boost Community Assistance Fund

Jill BurgessMandurah Coastal Times

A PARTNERSHIP between Shire of Murray and Alcoa has seen the former Community Assistance Fund boosted to offer community groups and organisations the chance to apply for double the amount of funding previously available in any given financial year.

Through the Community Assistance Partnership Fund, not-for-profit organisations can now apply for up to $3000 each financial year to host events, help with service delivery and/or strengthen organisational capacity.

According to Shire president Maree Reid, the fund aims to ensure the vibrancy, health and inclusivity of Murray communities by way of helping not-for-profit community groups and organisations continue their invaluable work.

Applications will be invited three times each financial year.

Applications for round one of the 2017-18 fund are open and close on August 31.

Applications for rounds two and three will be invited from November and March.

Community groups can submit funding applications for multiple projects providing the grant request total does not exceed the $3000 limit per group per year.

Projects must align with the Shire’s 2025 Strategic Community Plan or meet a community need.
