Another Irons in political fire

But this year, Mrs Irons is taking her own step into government by nominating for the 2013 Local Government Election as a City of South Perth councillor. She said being the wife of a federal politician had opened her eyes to the process of government and she saw what could be achieved.

‘Whether it be at federal, state or local level, all elected representatives should and do work hard for the people they represent,’ she said.

‘I will bring my life skills, my business skills, and a strong passion and commitment to being a voice on the council for the ratepayers and residents of South Perth on local issues that count to them.’

Mrs Irons said keeping rates to a minimum was a priority and fighting to keep the Burswood Peninsula was important.

‘I will always stand up for the people of the South Perth and Victoria Park to get the best possible deal from the amalgamations,’ she said.

Mrs Irons has nominated for the Mill Point Ward.
