KALE, lettuce, silverbeet, coriander and parsley – Rivervale’s community garden is flourishing.

The community gardeners are on to their second harvest at the garden in Wilson Park, keeping a keen eye out for their broad beans to come through.

Belmont Community Growers president Sandra Maynard said since its establishment earlier this year, the garden and its supports have been going from strength to strength.

“The dog walkers who use the park have expressed their pleasure in seeing the garden develop,” Ms Maynard said.

All are welcome to come and find out more about the local project and how to get involved.

“Our monthly gatherings are on the first Sunday of each month, and it’s wonderful to have community members turn up and join in our chats, and, once they join, our harvests,” Ms Maynard said.

The next meet-up is on Sunday, August 6, with all encouraged to bring a plant, seeds or produce to go in the lucky dip.

More information on how to join the community gardeners can be found on the beds or by visiting communitygrowers.org.
