Kewdale: Kinship Connections’ Di Ryder given Lifetime Achievement Award at National Naidoc Awards

KINSHIP Connections vice chair Di Ryder has been recognised at the 2017 National Naidoc Awards in Cairns with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Kewdale association’s board member is a proud Noongar woman who spent 21 years in the army and later worked as a community outreach worker.

Ms Ryder is the President of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans Association of WA, sits on a variety of committees and advisory groups and was nominated for Australian of the Year in 2015 among other accolades.

Ten Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians were honoured at the 2017 ceremony.

“It is inspiring to see the tireless work being done by so many talented and dedicated individuals to benefit themselves, their communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across our land,” National Naidoc Committee co-chair Benjamin Mitchell said.
