BELMONT is home to a brand new base for St John Ambulance.

The Central hub at 5 Cowcher Place is an 8000sq m warehouse housing a wide variety of equipment, vehicles, and operations.

St John EHS general manager Phil Martin said the hub project is the first of its kind in Australia.

“This is the site where all of our ambulances start their life,” Mr Martin said.

“Our 700-strong fleet come here to get fitted out and have radios installed and the end result is a state-of-the-art ambulance.”

The location services the metro fleet of 150 ambulances, and has the capability to run as an emergency command post and staging area.

Belmont’s new Central hub is also where youth and community engagement and EHS volunteers are coordinated and deployed to provide first aid at events like Skyworks, Anzac Day and the Royal Show.
