“Ten are from our club, and five are from other clubs. We’re the biggest club that competes,” she said.

Ms Richmond herself has started practising Greco-Roman wrestling after being inspired by her daughter, nine-year-old Kirrali.

“We just came along to try all the different sports at the club. We tried this one, and she took to it like a duck to water. Since she’s started, I started about four months ago. She’s inspired me to do it,” she said.

“It’s awesome. I absolutely love it. I didn’t realise how hard it was until I started doing it, and some of these kids are just fantastic.”

The 2017 National Youth Wrestling Championships take place in Sydney from October 14 to 15.
