Bowls: Manning Eagles enjoy successful season on green

THE Manning Eagles Bowling Club has capped off another sensational year by winning both the men’s and women’s major Premier League titles.

Both Premier League teams finished on top of their respective ladders after the home and away rounds.

In the Women’s Tuesday Premier League final, Manning defeated Mosman Park.

The Saturday Men’s Premier League final against Osborne Park was a thriller and after 84 ends the scores were level. An extra end was played and Manning prevailed by seven shots.

In the Saturday Pennant, Manning Women’s second division Lime defeated Melville by 24 points in a great win to claim the club’s third pennant for the season.

Apart from the pennant performances, the club was successful in winning two awards at the Bowls Australia Annual Presentation Dinner.

Together with Helensvale Bowling Club in Queensland, the club were joint winners of Bowls Australia’s Bowling Club of the Year and Ladies’ club coach Therese Hastings was named Coach of the Year.
