SOUTH Perth Cricket Club player Piepa Cleary took her chance for the Perth Scorchers as the team claimed two crucial wins against Adelaide Strikers and the Melbourne Stars on the weekend.

Scorchers head coach Lisa Keightley recalled Cleary to the line-up to take advantage of the pace and bounce available from the WACA wicket.

The move paid dividends for Perth, with Cleary taking three wickets in Saturday’s seven-wicket win over the Strikers, as well as picking up one wicket, a run out and a catch in Sunday’s 33-run win over the Stars.

The 20-year-old has seen limited game time this season with the arrival of England internationals Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole, as well as battling a side strain.

However, the time on the sidelines has not fazed the young gun, who continues to make the most of her chances.
