PERTH Demons colts player Luke English has been named the 2017 winner of the Jack Clarke Medal with 53 votes at the medal count dinner held at Subiaco Oval.
English finished 22 votes ahead of Claremont’s Jack Lewsey on 31, while Peel Thunder’s Kyle Havelberg came third with 30 at the vote count on Wednesday.
WA Football Commission (WAFC) chief executive Gavin Taylor congratulated English on winning the prestigious award among such a high quality group of WAFL colts players.

“To win the Jack Clarke Medal demonstrates what a talented and dedicated player Luke is.
“We look forward to seeing more players of this calibre emerge from the WA talent pathway as we focus on launching our revitalised talent program next season.
WAFC state talent manager Adam Jones said English was truly deserving of the honour.
“As a 17-year-old, Luke has had an extremely consistent year as an inside midfielder for Perth colts,” he said.
“Luke’s game is built on his elite level endurance.
“His ability to run, combined with his insatiable appetite to work hard, has meant his performance this year has been greater and more consistent than any other player in the competition.
“With an excellent all-round game, Luke has a bright future ahead of him.”
English polled votes in 15 of his 19 games, including six best on ground performances.
He averaged 25 disposals, six tackles and kicked 13 goals.
