STIRLING sculptor April Pine is an emerging artist in hot demand around Perth, currently working on nine commissions.
Pine, a professional architect turned artist, will exhibit her piece Grounded at the Fine Art at Hale exhibition for its 25th anniversary this month.
“The work is an assembly of vertical and horizontal sheets intersected together to create a rigid and singular form,” she said.

READ NOW“The figure when viewed from a perfect elevation that becomes almost like a drawing, embodying a silhouette that connects it to the surrounding landscape.
“When lit up, the shadows of the figures silhouette are projected outwards as though the figure is leaving an impression.”
Pine’s latest piece Pause, which is a sculpture of a surfer looking out to sea has recently been donated to the Town of Cottesloe an installed on the beachfront.
“I feel very supported as an emerging artist in Perth,” she said.
“People are buying sculptures. It has been an overwhelming year.”
Pine’s work will be exhibited alongside a range of Perth artists, including: Trevor Vickers, Ian de Souza, Leon Pericles, Eveline Kotai and Tony Jones.
Award winners such as Bec Juniper, Andy Quilty and Mikaela Castledine will be on display alongside a host of talented emerging artists.
Curator Karina Buckingham said the exhibition had long been a highlight for art enthusiasts and collectors.
Proceeds from the exhibition go back into the arts at Hale School via funding of an art scholarship for a Year 12 student, a monetary art prize for an additional student, as well as financial contributions towards several artistic enrichment projects at the School.THE DETAILS:
