Hamersley woman charged after allegedly attempting to smother baby daughter

A 26-year-old woman from Hamersley has been charged with committing an act likely to endanger the health, life or safety of her baby daughter.

It was reported the woman allegedly tried to smother her baby daughter.

The incident occurred on Sunday night, and police were called to the property by another family member about 8pm.

The woman appeared in court on Monday and has been remanded in custody.

The baby, aged 19 months, was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital and was released on Monday morning.
