Yokine police chase ends at primary school

A DRAMATIC police pursuit through Nollamara, Dianella and Yokine ended when a 37-year-old Thornlie man was caught with cash, cocaine and meth amphetamine.

Police saw a silver Volkswagen Golf they allege the man was driving on Wanneroo Road near Royal Street in Yokine just before noon on March 17.

They attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop.

The car continued to evade police through various streets in Yokine before it struck a kerb, damaging one of its tyres.

The car then continued through Nollamara and Dianella, with the occupants then abandoning the vehicle on Beaufort Street in Bedford.

The alleged driver of the vehicle then ran into a nearby school and was found by officers and police dog Whiskey hiding in a storage room.

He was allegedly located with an amount of methyl amphetamine, cocaine and cash.

The man was taken to hospital for medical treatment for a dog bite injury he received during his arrest.

He has been charged with reckless driving, failing to stop for police, possessing prohibited drugs and cash.

He will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on April 10.

The female passenger was released without charge.
