Opinion: Fine words mean nothing by candidates with nothing to show

Simon Wheeler, ScarboroughStirling Times

Local Elections are underway, we know this thanks to billboards and accumulated flyers of candidates preening for the October Local Government Elections.

I am amused to see how ‘concerned’ many candidates appear to be in regard to the ‘state’ of the City of Stirling and their ‘passion’ for their community, fine words.

Sadly as a regular council watcher attending many council meetings many of these names are unknown to me.

Some candidates are regulars at council meetings and manage to be passionate all year round, you may or may not agree with.

If your candidate comes knocking, ask them what exactly they have done to date to address the issues they are now so passionate about.
