Young people on skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes landed tricks, with each competitor judged on speed, style, consistency, park usage and trick technique. More than 375 competitors were whittled down to just 70 for the final and Clinckers, who won five of his six qualifying events, proved unstoppable, taking out the 14 and under State Championship.

Clinckers said he skated mainly for fun, adding that he hoped to once again travel to Melbourne for the national championships.

YMCA Perth chief executive Ross Kyrwood said the competition continued to grow in popularity each year and was a good way to get young people engaged with the community.
