Felton, who grew up in Greenwood, said he was looking forward to the PGA tournament event, which is in its second year.

‘It’s really good, obviously being co-sanctioned with Europe, so it’s a big help for the tour to get the coverage out that side of the world and bring some top players down ” and they’ve got a few this year that have decided to come, so its bigger steps than last year,’ Felton said.

He said the Karrinyup course was his favourite in WA and rated it in the top three in Australia, saying he was impressed with the players the tournament was attracting this year.

‘It’s easily my favourite in WA,’ he said.

The 38-year-old said although he would be happy with a finish in the top 10, he was aiming to win.

‘I’d love to obviously win, that’s always a goal, but I’d like to just put in a good performance, I’d take a top 10 right now and walk away, but winning is the goal.’

This year’s event boasts PGA players from around the world including Ryder Cup and Presidents Trophy member Dustin Johnson, South African Branden Grace and three time European Tour winner Australian Richard Green.
