AFTER just a year on Rottnest Island, bus and coach service provider ADAMS has won WA’s top tourism award.

The Malaga-based business that started 11 years ago received the Sir David Brand Award for Tourism for outstanding achievement in servicing the WA tourism industry, at the recent WA Tourism Awards.

It also won the Major Tour and Transport Operators prize.

Owner Adam Barnard said he succeeded in business because he knew his weaknesses and found people smarter than him at certain things.

“The Sir David Brand Award is the highest honour in the state for our industry and it hasn’t come without dedication and sacrifice from many people,” Mr Barnard said.

“As the business leader, I have a passion for tourism and I make sure this is filtered down through my staff.”

ADAMS manager John Weatherhead said the company had become part of the Rottnest business community since starting on the Island a year ago.

“Everyone who works here feels privileged and loves it,” he said.
