Bennett Springs: earthworks begin on new subdivision

EARTHWORKS were underway on a new subdivision in Bennett Springs last week.

Contractor RJ Vincent & Co bulldozed through the landholding on the corner of Lord Street and Reid Highway.

Mirvac is developing the 57ha site as a residential estate on the fringe of the Swan Valley, either side of Coast Road.

According to an environmental assessment report lodged with the City of Swan last year, it had been historically cleared for agriculture and consisted “largely of grassed paddocks devoid of native vegetation”.

Last October, the council approved the Bennett Springs east structure plan, which is expected to yield about 672 residential lots in the area bounded by Reid Highway, Lord Street, Marshall Road and the Bennett Brook.
