Bennett Springs resident to Step Up for MSWA and sister

Lauren PedenThe Advocate

BENNETT Springs’ Vinita Vinciullo is more than willing to take steps for Multiple Sclerosis WA (MSWA) for supporting her sister after being diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis five years ago.

It will be Ms Vinciullo’s fifth year participating in Step Up for MSWA and as captain of Team ENJO for Donna, is unlikely to be her last.

She said her sister, Donna Lupton, relied on several MSWA services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, member forums and group sessions, massage therapy and weekly domestic assistance.

“Donna gets lots of support from MSWA so I like to support them,” she said.

“When it comes to Step Up, every little bit helps.

“The money raised is used to fund research to find the cause and cure for MS and to provide services to people with MS.”

MSWA chief executive Marcus Stafford said Ms Vinciullo’s passion was not unusual.

“We find that many of the people who take part in our fundraising events have family members or know someone who has multiple sclerosis, that’s why they’re driven to take part and keep coming back year after year,” Mr Stafford said.

“For that, we are incredibly grateful to people like Vinita.”

Step Up for MSWA is on Sunday, June 18 and there are three different climb options – One Up: 1103 stairs or 53 flights, Double Up for over 18s: 2206 stairs or 106 flights and the Mini Climb for kids aged 6 to 11 years: 435 stairs or 20 flights.
