A FOOD company that processes and packs Australian sweet lupins from WA farmers is looking to employ locally at its Bullsbrook mill.

The Lupin Co managing director David Fienberg said they chose the area for its purpose-built lupin food mill to give their farmers good access without the constraint of traffic congestion and with room to grow in the future.

“We do not have any locals working in our team yet, but aim to be employing locally over the coming months,” Mr Fienberg said.

“We are using local networks to help spread the work and attract the right staff that would rather work in a local business and avoid the hassle of extended travel times, with the flexibility to work shifts that suit their family situations.

“For example, parents that would like to be home in time for the end of school and to collect the kids.”

He said The Lupin Co was a new and globally unique company with an amazing food sourced right from the paddock and managed all the way to the packet.

“Our developments include extending the TLC lupin flake product distribution to the health and wellness and gluten-free markets in Australia,” he said.

“To do that, we need local staff that are able to work with us on high standards of food packing and distribution in a flexible way.

“The opportunity to work with local businesses in the construction phase and future operations is very important to us. Supporting local community is a business imperative and we can do this in many ways, including employing staff and local trades as a priority over other service providers.”

He said the culture of the business was best described as being gentle on the environment, their farmers and their consumers.

“We believe that the world has a new-found respect for pulses in general, lupins included,” he said.

“Our product is very high in both protein and dietary fibre, low in carbs and fat and comes with a great pedigree of medical evidence that shows significant health benefits.

“The feedback we have had from the initial market representation has been very good and we aim to develop this over time.”
