City of Swan to introduce 12-month food truck trial in Ellenbrook

Lisa ThomasThe Advocate

FOODIES will have more choice for dinner every fortnight thanks to a new event bringing street food to Ellenbrook.

Ellenbrook Roadside Eats will be held at Charlie Gregorini Memorial Park every second Wednesday as part of a 12-month trial with the City of Swan.

Michelle Kolk from VCM Perth Events said the event brought a large variety of foods, with around 10 to 15 food vans at each event.

She said the first event, which was held on July 12 was a huge success.

“As a resident of Ellenbrook it was frustrating to see the area overlooked for events such as the Ellenbrook Roadside Eats program,” she said.

“A mid-week program allows for workers, parents and the community as a whole to interact and enjoy the great food choices and the park.

“Our first date was a great success – the online interaction with the Ellenbrook community has been nothing but positive.”

Ms Kolk said the vendors catered for people with dietary requirements such as gluten and diary intolerances and vegan and were affordable.

“Where possible we ask vendors to provide vegan and gluten free products,” she said.

“The program is focused on a friendly family environment and without the usual bells and whistles the menus on offer will be more affordable.”

The next event will be held tonight July 26 at the Charlie Gregorini Memorial Park behind the Ellenbrook Library.
