City of Swan’s Avon Descent Festival to be held at Lilac Hill Park for the first time

CITY of Swan is gearing up for another big year at the Avon Descent Festival, which will this year be held at a new venue.

The free festival, which is a partnership between the City and Act Belong Commit, will be held at Lilac Hill Park in Caversham for the first time.

Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the new location would mean more room for activities and plenty of river frontage for event goers to watch the Avon Descent.

“We have been holding our Avon Descent event for a number of years and it is always a great family event,” he said.

“This year we have partnered with Act Belong Commit and have moved to a brand new location at Lilac Hill Park. It’s a fantastic location and will provide even more entertainment and variety for the community.”

The free event will kick off from 10am to 3pm on August 6 and will include entertainment from Hardeyhaha, Possum Music and The Hunting Birds – as well as market stalls and food vans.
