ARTISTS are being encouraged to nominate their work for the Ellenbrook Open Art Award before entries close on Friday.

The award, which is in its third year, highlights the work of artists from across Perth in a number of different categories.

Ellenbrook Arts executive director Matt Sivyer said he hoped the 2017 awards would be bigger than ever.

“The art award is a wonderful platform for local amateur, emerging and professional artists to get their works out of the studio and in to an art gallery for the enjoyment of the community,” he said.

“We have a lot of creative people in our community and by making the art award open to all visual arts mediums, we are really looking to engage with this segment and raise their profile, while the art award is open to artists from everywhere, the majority of entries we receive are from Ellenbrook and the surrounding suburbs.

“We are here to drive the development and promotion of arts and culture in Ellenbrook and the art award is a great way to nurture and enhance the local arts and cultural scene.”

There is $5000 up for grabs, with prizes for each of the categories: Most Outstanding award $1500, City of Swan award $750, Painting $500, Photography $500, Mixed Media $500, People’s Choice $500 and Youth award $250 worth of vouchers.

The winners will be announced on September 1 at the opening of an exhibition, which will showcase the work of all entrants.

All award entries must be in by 5pm on July 28.
