More than 200 wines were judged from 28 producers, with 20 gold, 38 silver and 91 bronze medals awarded.

The late Vince Yurisich was inducted into the Icon of the Swan Valley Hall of Fame.

Mr Yurisich followed his father Ivan’s footsteps by taking over the family wine business, Olive Farm Wines, in the early 1960s.

Recently celebrating its 80th anniversary, Olive Farm’s fourth-generation winemaker Anthony said his late grandfather Vince was instrumental in continuing the family tradition.

Over the years, Vince Yurisich was president of the Swan Valley Regional Winemakers Association for many years and was wine master in the Swan Valley Vintner’s Club.

The Icon Award was accepted posthumously by Vince’s wife Jan and son Ian.

Standout producers of the evening’s awards were Faber Vineyards, which won awards for best white wine, best Swan Valley table wine and the chairman’s trophy for the 2006 Faber Swan Verdelho.

Mandoon Estate also enjoyed success, winning the best dry red wine (grown outside of the Swan Valley) with the 2012 Mandoon Estate Reserve Cabernet, best dry red table wine and best shiraz with 2012 Mandoon Estate Old Vine Shiraz and the prestigious City of Swan Trophy for the highest average score overall.
