Baseball: Swan Districts to honour memory of former players against Morley Eagles

SWAN Districts and Morley Eagles baseball clubs will again honour two of their clubmen who died from cancer.

The third annual Webb Gordon Tribute game this Sunday will be a tough State League assignment for the ninth-placed Swans against top-three team the Eagles.

“The Eagles play great baseball; it’s always a challenge for our young guys,” Swans coach Adam Courcha said.

“We are happy to be part of a great day and hopefully put on a good display for the few hundred fans expected down there.”

The Eagles will host the clash at Morley Baseball Club, Crimea Park, on Sunday, February 19, at 3.15pm.

“We would love to see you all there to honour the memory of Adam and Graeme,” a club spokesman said.

Swans are coming off a 6-0 win over bottom-two side Perth last Sunday.

“The boys played well last week,” club president Rob Daniele said.

“Our US import Ryan Davis pitched nine innings and didn’t give up a run.”

The club is also gearing up for its AGM and awards nighton March 31 at Bells Functions, Barrack Street, Perth.
