BENARA Bowmen Archery Club hosted the two-day State Field Event over the WA Day long weekend.
Using a variety of bow types, male and female archers from 11 clubs took part in divisions ranging from junior ‘cub’ to ‘veteran’.
“It was a very successful tournament with 77 competitors in attendance; the largest number in over 10 years,” committee member Tamara Locke said.

READ NOW“Club members worked together in the weeks leading up to the event to set up the 24-target course in the bushland of the International Shooting Complex Grounds at the picturesque Whiteman Park.
“Benara had 17 archers competing and collected 11 podium finishes for their efforts – a fantastic achievement for the club, with some members shooting field for the first time.”
Compound archer Danie Oosthuizen, who is currently ranked sixth in Australia and first in WA, was the overall highest scorer of the day.
The Yanchep resident scored 812 points out of a possible 864, having recently returned from representing Australia in the Archery World Cup in Shanghai.
