ELLENBROOK archer Lewis Bower (12) said technique and aim could make or break someone competing in the precision sport.

The Ellenbrook Secondary College Year 7 student said he loved the different styles of bows in archery.

He discovered his passion for the sport at a participation day at Whiteman Park while on a family outing.

Bower, now a member of the Benara Bowmen Archery Club, had been preparing for the State Indoor Championships in Warwick last weekend, which he was both nervous and excited for.

He will also compete in the 2017 National Championships at Whitman Park in November. It follows a bronze medal for clout at April’s National Youth Archery Championships and a trophy for third place in the Sorrento Tournament’s novice division in May.

“I’m always proud when I do well at a competition,” Bower said.

Bower has been nominated for the Junior Individual category in the Community Newspaper Group’s Local Sports Star Awards.
